Lunch at the George

So many SOP members booked on this trip resulting in Kate taking a further four people in her car and the lovely Betty sitting up front with Julia on the bus!  We had a delicious meal at the George, tasty meat, a great selection of vegetables, huge Yorkshire Puddings and crispy roast potatoes.  Some people found room for pudding too!  The staff made us feel very welcome.

It was then back on the bus for a trip to Ripon.  The market was little disappointing with not a lot of stores but there were bargains to be had in Ripon and most people came back with a bag or two.  The weather was kind to us with no rain.  Another successful trip enjoyed by all.

We started the year with a wonderful trip to see Cinderella in the fabulous setting of the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford.

With a full bus, we set off for Bradford with a new driver to the Happy Wanderers, Nigel who expertly managed the bus.  We called at Murgatroyds for a tasty lunch of fish and chips, enjoyed by all.

Then it was onto the pantomime.  With the bus parked close by we entered the magnificent theatre.  Our seats were very high up and we were surrounded by children who added to the atmosphere and fun of the show.

The stars of the show were Coleen Nolan, complete with her rendition of “I’m in the Mood for Dancing” and the rather risqué Billy Pearce with some rude but very funny lines.  Special effects included a flying coach complete with four white horses which took off over the heads of the audience and a 3-D spectacular of scary creatures coming out of the forest.

It was a great show and kicked off the 2018 Supporting Older Peoples’ outings programme in a great fashion.
